Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that the law will be applied equally to all people in drug-related cases, including film personalities and VIPs.
The statement came in connection with Operation Toofan, the state’s anti-drug drive aimed at checking drug trafficking, drug use, and related networks across Kerala.
Referring to reports of drug use at DJ parties, luxury hotels, and film-related gatherings, Chennithala said the government would take strong action wherever required. He made it clear that no person would get special protection because of social status, profession, or public image.
Operation Toofan is being carried out as a wider enforcement and awareness initiative against narcotics. Authorities are expected to continue inspections and action in places where drug use or drug supply is suspected.
The Home Minister also said that the campaign would not be limited to ordinary users or small cases. According to him, people involved in supplying, supporting, or protecting drug networks would also face legal action.
The statement comes at a time when Kerala has increased its focus on preventing drug abuse, especially among young people. The government and enforcement agencies have been stressing both strict legal action and public awareness as part of the drive.
